An evening of madrigals from I madrigali a cinque voci by Cipriano de Rore, celebrating the release of Blue Heron’s world-premiere recording of the complete book. Cipriano’s 1542 publication, conceived as a poetic cycle and organized by mode, features sonnets by Petrarch set in a complex and breathtakingly beautiful web of polyphony. The project was launched by the 2015 Noah Greenberg Award bestowed by the American Musicological Society on Professor Jessie Ann Owens and Blue Heron. Read more about De Rore and the project.
